"Dancing with the Stars" sees another surprise departure

With no technical glitches in sight, someone was bound to be eliminated on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" show.

Host Tom Bergeron kicked off the night with an announcement: Cher will perform and serve as a guest judge next week.

The eight remaining contenders took on an individual routine and a Halloween-themed team dance. Because of the previous technical issues, scores from last week were factored into this week's scores, along with votes.

Amber Riley and Derek Hough took the floor first for a paso doble routine. Hough had been in pain, but toughed it out for an impressive performance that wowed both the crowd and the judges. Bruno Tonioli called "incredible," and Carrie Ann Inaba said Riley lit up the ballroom.

Brant Daugherty attempted a jive with pro-partner Peta Murgatroyd. It was an ambitious routine that even included a cartwheel. Tonioli liked their enthusiasm but said the timing was a bit off. Inaba, meanwhile, said, "I think the routine was just a hair too challenging."

Former "Saved by the Bell" actress Elizabeth Berkley did a quickstep routine with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, a dance that grabbed the judges' attention; they were praised for their improvement.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff, meanwhile, went with a cha cha that Tonioli called it "immaculate" and "brilliant." Inaba said it was "the tightest cha cha I've ever seen."

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi said she felt a bit off before she and Sasha Farber attempted the samba. Still, the judges thought she did a good job, earning a score of 9 from each of them. Len Goodman said the performance was "well done."

It was all about the jive for Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, who put their all into the routine. Inaba said it was "perfectly suited" for Osbourne, and the pair ended up nabbing their first 10 of the season.

Fighting a rib injury, actress Leah Remini hit the dance floor for a sexy salsa with Tony Dovolani that earned the pair 26 points for their individual dance routine.

Bill Engvall and Emma Slater took a chance on a quickstep routine that received praise for its energetic nature. Although it wasn't perfect, Tonioli said that "most of the steps were right."

It was a pretty good night overall with some impressive dances, but in the end, Snooki was sent tearfully packing. She may have scored three 9s this week, but combined with last week's score and votes, the former "Jersey Shore" star just didn't have enough to stay in the competition.

"I can't even talk right now," Snooki said after hearing the news. "I love everybody here, so it sucks."
