Many consumers have gotten an early start on their holiday shopping this season - in part due to the huge sales they're finding.
But are retailers really cutting prices -- or just making it look like they are?
On "The Early Show" Monday, CBS News Business and Economics Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis showcased a list from Consumer Reports to help you avoid what you might call shopping "traps."
She also described one word of advice from the National Retail Federation: Shop after 6 p.m. the night before a big sale. Most stores will have updated their computers for the sale so, if you shop late the night before, you can probably get the discount -- and avoid big crowds seeking the bargain the next day!
