The Consumerist suggests six ways to get out of your current cell-phone contract so you can buy an iPhone. Five of them are pretty ludicrous (e.g., "die" and "join the armed forces"), but there's one that makes sense: Sell the contract. Normally, breaking a contract early results in a hefty termination fee, but these three services give you a much more affordable out:
CellSwapper: Free to post. $14.95 if you sell your contract. If you're jonesing for an iPhone, or just unhappy with your current service provider, these solutions are definitely better than "move to an area outside the plan's coverage area" (#4 on Consumerist's goofy list of cancellation options).
CelltradeUSA: $19.99 to transfer a contract. No fee to take over a contract.
ReCellular: $14.99 to transfer a contract. No fee to take over a contract. (Note that Resellular appears to be down for the moment, though I've seen no evidence they're out of business or anything. Hopefully it's just temporary.)
