Jay Leno jokes about being booted from "Tonight Show"

Adding even more fuel to the late-night fire, Jay Leno openly addressed his precarious position on Thursday night's "Tonight Show."

While NBC has been the butt of his jokes all week, calling the execs "snakes," slamming the network's ratings, and calling the network all but extinct, last night he added himself into the mix.

"Are you all excited about March Madness?" he asked the "Tonight" audience. "Are you all into March Madness? People are talking about who's in, who's out, who's gonna be eliminated. And that's just here at NBC. I've never been in the paper this much. It's fantastic."

Rumors have been rampant that NBC plans to dump the top-rated late night host and replace him with "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon. NBC is already building him a brand new studio in New York, with the apparent intention of moving "The Tonight Show" from Burbank, Calif., to New York, where Fallon currently tapes his "Late Night" show. There is also talk of "Tonight" returning to a 90-minute format.

Though NBC has not made any official announcements, and has denied initial reports about replacing Leno, only confirming that the new set was for Fallon.

One thing's for sure though, Leno's ratings will likely go nowhere but up as viewers tune in to hear his latest digs and jokes about the late night turmoil and impending changes. Let 'em have it, Jay!
