The actress took to her Twitter account to defend herself, a day after pleading not guilty to stealing a $2,500 necklace.

"I would never steal, in case people are wondering," she wrote in message posted Thursday night on her Facebook and Twitter pages. "I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal."

The actress, who is free on $40,000 bail and recently out of court-mandated rehab, added, "I just want to be on set again, and left alone to just work!"

Lohan, 24, also responded to the attention given to the tight white minidress she wore to court on Wednesday.

"What I wear to court shouldn't be front page news. It's just absurd," she wrote.
