File-sharing and -storage service Windows Live SkyDrive will soon offer users 25GB of free space, a five-fold increase over the current amount.
Whoa. I was pretty impressed when Microsoft bumped SkyDrive to 5GB from its original 500MB, but this is a huge deal. Until this, the only place to give you 25GB of free storage was MediaMax, and that service folded a couple months ago. (
Truth be told Actually, ADrive gives you 50GB! but I don't consider it a viable business tool.)
Alas, for now the upgrade is merely "coming soon," with no official word as to when the upgrade will occur. In the meantime, you can sign up for a free SkyDrive account and use it to create personal, privately shared, and publicly shared folders. (Now we just need a Mozy-like backup utility that leverages the space and we'll be all set.)
