Norton Opening Doors For Inauguration

D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton is calling on churches and other buildings in the District to open their doors to the crowds expected to crush the city during the inauguration. She's leading by example:

Usable indoor and outdoor venues could include the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, FedEx Field, Nationals Park and even local churches.

“Particularly considering the serious recession, the District’s elected officials, of course, want to encourage as many people as possible to come, especially this year, and to help them have the time of their lives,” writes Norton.

To set an example, Norton’s office in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill will stay open for her constituents on Jan. 20 during the swearing-in and the inaugural parade.
