CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic reports that President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture. Vilsack's appointment will be announced at the press conference in Chicago on Wednesday.
Vilsack announced that he would seek the Democratic presidential nomination in late 2006 but quickly dropped out of the race in February of 2007, citing a lack of monetary resources. He later endorsed Obama's chief opponent in the Democratic primaries, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Vilsack served two terms as governor of Iowa, a major farm state.
