Wenner Media, which seems to have finally discovered this thing called the Internet, is finally taking back control of RollingStone.com, from RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK), and will relaunch the website early next year. The site has been under RealNetworks supervision for the last five years or so, but the deal expires end of this year. Real runs the backend and sells ads on the site, and has integrated Rhapsody music links into the site as well. Wenner is determining if it will continue its partnership with Rhapsody as well, a MediaWeek story says. This comes after Wenner hired its first-ever chief digital officer early this year. Of course trying to create and relaunch a general interest music site this late may not necessarily be easy, despite the brand name behind it. And not that the magazine itself is any more relevant to the music scene anyway…
