"The Simpsons" turned to someone who knows a thing or two about horror when it came to the opening sequence for its annual Halloween episode.
The Fox animated series tapped director Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth," "Hellboy," "Pacific Rim") to create the opener for "Treehouse of Horror XXIV."
The three-minute-long sequence takes the standard "Simpsons" sequence and added spooky elements to it -- creatures from del Toro's own films, references to Alfred Hitchcock and Stephen King, a hoard of zombies and more.
"Treehouse of Horror XXIV" airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
