Yes, We Know You Drove To D.C. From Detroit

Banking Committee senators cannot stop talking about the fact that all three automakers drove to Washington like ... wait for it ... normal people!

Dodd highlighted the fact, once again, as he introduced the CEO-packed panel to the audience.

The CEOs drove to town in cars not-yet-released to the public, like the prototype of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid.

(In the interest of full disclosure, Chevy’s spokesman noted that CEO Richard Wagoner made most of the trip in a Malibu Hybrid. He switched to the Volt tester a few miles outside of town.)

All the cars, said Dodd, are outside “for those who want to see what some of those newer models look like.”

Dodd also mentioned — at the risk, he said, of seeming biased — that he drives a Ford Escape.

But in case anyone out there is curious, he’s looking at the Chevrolet Tahoe.

“With two children,” Dodd noted, “I need a little bit more room.”
