Large-scale images of endangered and threatened species, featuring the work of National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore, were projected onto the southern side of New York's iconic Empire State Building on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, to raise awareness of the plight facing threatened species around the globe.
The one-day art event, titled "Projecting Change: The Empire State Building," is part of a promotion for an upcoming documentary called "Racing Extinction."
In this photo, a bald eagle named Bensar (photographed by Sartore at the George Miksch Sutton Avian Research Center in Bartlesville, Okla.) appears on the iconic landmark.
