At least three officers are confirmed dead and at least three others wounded after a shooting in Baton Rouge, La., a sheriff's office spokeswoman said Sunday, July 17, 2016. One suspect is dead. Law enforcement officials believe two others are still at large.
The attack on police comes less than two weeks after the shooting death of a Baton Rouge man, Alton Sterling, as he was detained by police, an act caught on video which sparked numerous protests nationwide; and by the ambush on Dallas police on July 7 which left five officers dead. Police departments around the country warned officers to remain vigilant.
