Millions of books by Theodor Seuss Geisel -- known as Dr. Seuss -- are sold every year, but the children’s book author got an extra boost after the never-before-published “What Pet Should I Get?” was released in 2015, bringing him to a cool $20 million. 

Bob Marley died at 36, but his legacy is far from forgotten. It’s actually not record sales that made his income $21 million this past year, but rather sales from Marley’s Mellow Mood beverages, House of Marley audio products and other merchandise. 

The recently deceased Prince sold more than 2.5 million albums over the past year, more than any other dead musician. Just before he died, he was grossing nearly $2 million per show on his tour. Prince’s income was $25 million. 

Who makes more than Prince? The King of Rock and Roll. Elvis Presley, who sells more than 1 million albums each year, makes even more from Graceland ticket sales. Presley raked in $27 million. 

Arnold Palmer, who died in September, brought in $40 million with his 500 eponymous stores in Asia and his beverage with Arizona. 

“Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz brought in $48 million with his cut of the cartoon’s licensing revenue. 

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, trounces the King of Rock -- along with the rest of the competition -- with a sweet $825 million thanks to a very savvy decision in 1985, when Jackson bought publishing rights for the Beatles catalog. He later sold it to Sony; the deal got his estate a 30 percent annualized return.
