President Barack Obama gave first lady Michelle Obama the thumbs up when she walked out wearing a white crepe dress by American designer Brandon Maxwels, best known as Lady Gaga's stylist, for a state dinner for Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Mrs. Lee Hsien Loong at the White House, August 2, 2016.
Maxwell, 31, designed the pantsuit/dress that Lady Gaga wore to this year's Oscars, which he described as "classic with an edge." The two strapless, white creations definitely boasted some similarities.
The first lady has consistently supported and highlighted the work of young American designers. Maxwell launched his line in 2015 and has quickly caught the eye of not just Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga, but celebrities that include Iman and Zendaya. The rising star in the fashion world won the Swarovski award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards earlier in the summer.
