Nick Nolte

The actor was born on Feb. 8 1941, in Omaha, Neb. He launched his career at the age of 35 with the 1976 TV mini-series "Rich Man, Poor Man." He soon hit the big screen in various films, including "Who'll Stop the Rain" in 1978 and "Heart Beat" in 1980.

Nolte briefly attended Arizona State University, where he played college football. He left school and moved to Los Angeles to study acting at the Pasadena Playhouse and Stella Adler's Academy.
