"Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!" If you're too young to remember that signature line from George Taylor, the stranded astronaut played by Charlton Heston in the 1968 Planet of the Apes, go rent the original sci-fi classic. trailer to refresh your memory.
Talk about a cast: Heston was joined by Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, James Whitmore, James Daly and - who could forget - Linda Harrison.
Allegories are all over the place, with pointed reminders to contemporary issues of racism and class divisions. But it's that wow finale, courtesy of Rod Serling, that has had folks talking for decades. Only then do we learn what happened to Earth during the intervening 2006 years since Taylor and his fellow crew members got launched into space.
